Driver Chat
First Job: Petrol pump attendant when I was 16.
First RC Race Car: Bergonzoni 1/5th
Racing Hero: Nigel Mansell because to date he is the only one who has won a F1 Title & Indy Car Title back to back. He is also a people person and purely loves racing.
Favourite RC Circuit: Lostallo, Switzerland. Between where its located and the track layout it beats everything.
Favourite RC Event: World Championships (every two years). You meet everybody and friends from around the world.
Most Memorable Result: As a driver it would have to be finishing 10th at the British GP in 2003 with the Technokit. As a mechanic watching Cormac get through 4 finals at the 2011 Worlds is one of the most moving moments as a mechanic/dad.
Favourite Event Finish: As a driver, again, it has to be finishing 10th at the 2002 British GP. As a mechanic seeing Cormac finishing 3rd at the 2007 British GP and then being hugged by Jozef of RS5.
Greatest Influence: This is a strange one but really, looking back, the oldest and biggest influence I got was when I first watched the film American Grafitti. I was inspired, influenced and told myself “im going to build cars like that and go street racing”.
Best Advice: “Set your car up for the final, not for qualifying”. I was told this by Ian Oddie some years ago and it has paid dividends many times.
You’ll Never See Without: A chain on my neck given to me by Cormac on fathers day.
Favourite Food: Chicken
Favourite Movie: Fifth Element or American Grafitti or Two Lane Black Top.
Music on my iPod: ACDC, Queen, Dire Straits, Pink Floyd, Phil Collens, Duran Duran and Wishbone Ash.
